Portugal Digital Nomad Visa
Portugal offers two main Digital Nomad Visa options:
Temporary Stay Visa
- Valid for 12 months
- Renewable up to five times, potentially leading to longer-term residence
Long-Term Residency Visa
- Issued for four months initially
- After arrival, you can apply for a two-year residence permit, renewable for an additional three years
Eligibility & Income Requirements
To qualify, you must:
- Be 18 years or older and a non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizen
- Work remotely, employed or freelance,for companies or clients outside Portugal
- Demonstrate stable income of approximately €3,280–€3,480 per month (about four times the Portuguese minimum wage)
- Show sufficient savings, typically around €9,840 (approximately 12 months’ income)
Required Documents
Valid passport with at least six months of validity beyond the visa term
Two recent passport-style photos
Proof of remote employment or freelance contracts
Evidence of income or savings
Accommodation proof in Portugal (rental agreement or property ownership)
Portuguese tax identification number (NIF)
Health insurance covering Portugal
Criminal record certificate, apostilled and translated into Portuguese
Optional: a cover letter explaining your relocation intent
For family inclusion: marriage/birth certificates and additional income proof
